Akshay Kumar will soon re-create his magic on-screen with his sports-drama titled ‘Gold’. The trailer of which was released a few days back and garnered a thunderous response from the audience. Television actress Mouni Roy, who is marking her Bollywood debut with this film, too was praised for her stint. While the film is slated to release on Independence Day this year, few portions of the movie are yet to be shot.
Out of which, a fun party number was shot recently titled ‘Mono Beena’. The lead actors Akshay and Mouni, who play a married couple in the movie, will be seen in a traditional Bengali look. The composer of the song, Tanishq Bagchi, revealed to Mumbai Mirror, that even Akshay Kumar has contributed to the lyrics of the song.

He added, “The idea to change the lyrics from ‘Mona Lisa’ to ‘Mono Beena’ came from Akshay sir”. He reasoned that it would sound better with a Bengali girl’s name. “Reema was also very supportive and told me to immediately lock the idea”. Bagchi also revealed that this song will introduce a new singer Yasir for the male vocals, while the female portions are recorded by Monali Thakur and Shashaa Tirupati.
Speaking more about the song, he mentioned that it is not a typical item number,”The brief was for a retro but classy number, not an item song. Since the characters are Bengali I thought of bringing in the blues and jazz and we are optimistic the audience will love it”.
Directed by Reema Kagti and backed by Farhan Akhtar-Ritesh Sidhwani, the movie will be locking horns with John Abraham-Aisha Sharma starrer ‘Satyameva Jayate’ and ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se’ featuring Bobby, Sunny and Dharmendra.
