We have several Bollywood actors who resemble some of their Hollywood counterparts. But did you know ‘Aladdin‘ actress Naomi Scott was once mistaken for our very own Deepika Padukone? Yes, it was only recently when Naomi opened up about being mistaken for the leggy beauty Deepika by a crew member.
English actress and singer Naomi Scott, played the role of Princess Jasmine in the live-action film ‘Aladdin’. The film also starred Will Smith as Genie. Last year while promoting, ‘Aladdin’, Naomi in one of her interviews had revealed that a crew on the sets of her film said that she resembles Deepika from the song ‘Nagada Sang Dhol’.

In an interview with BBC, Naomi was asked if Princess Jasmine was inspired by Bollywood actresses, to which she replied, “I have to tell you this funny story. Do you know Nagada Sang Dhol? I was playing it on set — and I had an American cast and crew — so I’m playing it because I love that song so much, and literally someone was like, ‘Oh it’s so beautiful, Nay, is that you?’ and I was just like, ‘Yeah, it is, it is.’”

The young actress went on to add, “I thought to myself, ‘you could be compared to worse people than Deepika, so I’ll take that because she’s pretty beautiful’.”
Interestingly, for Jasmine’s role that Naomi played in ‘Aladdin’, even Bollywood actress Tara Sutaria had auditioned for it. Later Naomi went on to star in the rebooted version of ‘Charlie’s Angels’ alongside Kristen Stewart and Ella Balinska.
For the unversed, Naomi’s mother Usha Joshi is an Indian Gujarati and her father Christopher is English. The 27-year-old actress was born in London and is married to footballer Jordan James Spence.
