Ever since Ali Abbas Zafar’s ‘Bharat’ was announced, the film has managed to stay in news for various reasons. First, it was Priyanka Chopra being a part of the film and later walking out of it at the last moment due to some personal reason.
Ali tweeted about Priyanka’s decision by posting, “Yes Priyanka Chopra is no more part of @Bharat_TheFilm & and the reason is very very special, she told us in the Nick of time about her decision and we are very happy for her.”
With Priyanka walking out of the film, rumours of Salman Khan being angry with her decision started doing the rounds. While some reports said that Chopra left because of personal reasons, others claimed she did it because of a Hollywood project. Clarifying about these rumours of Salman Khan being upset with Priyanka for leaving the film at last minute, Ali in his recent interview with the Times of India said, “I don’t think we are so shallow that we will be angry with someone or term that unprofessional. When people don’t know about the real story, they tend to interpret it in their own way. The decisions taken were solely mine. All the stories that have been doing the rounds are completely baseless. There is no bad blood between any of us,”
The filmmaker also admitted that though he was unnerved and had a couple of sleepless nights due to Priyanka’s decision but he is glad that they hadn’t started shooting or else things would have become more difficult.
In the same interview, Ali spoke about what made Katrina Kaif say yes to the film after Priyanka walked out. “In ‘Bharat’, the character does justice to Katrina’s presence and that is why I think she has chosen to do the film,” said Ali.

Interestingly, the director shared that Katrina was destined to do this film as after finishing the shoot of ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, Katrina had told Ali that he is going to miss her in his next film (‘Bharat’) and she will find some way to be a part of the film and eventually, she did become a part of the film.
