Alia Bhatt celebrates her first National Film Award Gangubai Kathiawadi style

On Thursday, Alia Bhatt won her first National Award for her performance in Gangubai Kathiawadi and she celebrated it in her 'Gangu' style. The actress dedicated her win to Sanjay Leela Bhansali and her audience.

As the winners of this year’s National Film Awards were announced, Alia was adjudged Best Actress. She shared the honour with Kriti Sanon who won for her impressive and impactful act in Mimi. Now, after winning the award, Alia posted a heartfelt note expressing gratitude on her victory.

The actress posted a picture of her in a white shirt doing her signature namaste pose in Gangubai style. She also posted another picture donning a million dollar smile. As she smiles from ear-to-ear, the happiness and pride is clearly visible on her beaming face.

Along with it, she penned a heartfelt note thanking her director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and all others who contributed in her win. It read, “To Sanjay Sir.. To the entire crew.. To my family.. To my team & last but most definitely not the least To my audience.. This national award is yours .. because without you ALL none of this would be possible.. seriously!!! I am SO grateful .. I do not take moments like these lightly.. I hope to continue to entertain for as long as I can.. Love and light.. Gangu (also known as alia).”

Alia played the eponymous role of Gangubai in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial, who is pushed in the world of prostitution at a very young age. How she rises the political ranks from there to fight for the rights of her community made for a moving story.

The actress also took to her caption to appreciate her fellow winner. For Kriti, she wrote, “P.S – Kriti .. I remember messaging you the day I saw Mimi .. it was such an honest and powerful performance.. I cried and cried.. so so well deserved.. shine on you star… the world is your oyster.” Even Kriti reciprocated to the love saying, “let’s celebrate soonnnn,” as she dropped a heart and hug emoji.

Kriti had also appreciated Alia in her gratification post. She had written, “Congratulations Aliaaaa! So so well deserved! I’ve always admired your work and I’m too excited that I get to share this huge moment with you! Yayyyiiee!! Biggg hug… Lets Celebrate!!“

Alia is currently one of the most successful actresses in India. She delivered four hits last year with Gangubai Kathiawadi, RRR, Darlings and Brahmastra. This year too, she gave an impressive performance in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The film has performed exceptionally critically as well as commercially.

Up next, she has Farhan Akhtar’s Jee Le Zaraa with Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Katrina Kaif. She recently also made her Hollywood debut with Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan in Heart Of Stone. The actress is also reportedly a part of Vasan Bala’s next as well as Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra.
