Alia Bhatt is elated to be felicitated with Smita Patil award for her contribution to Indian cinema

Alia Bhatt is one of the most loved actresses in Bollywood. Alia recently delivered a terrific performance as Isha in Brahmastra. The Ayan Mukerji directorial starred Ranbir Kapoor as Shiva in Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva. Brahmastra is doing well at the box office and Alia is beyond happy. Now, she has one more reason to celebrate. The actress has been awarded the Best Actor at the prestigious Priyadarshni Academy Smita Patil Memorial Award for her contribution to Indian cinema.

This rare honour is bestowed upon outstanding national and international recipients annually and awards global recognition for their unparalleled excellence and immense contribution to their respective fields. This year, achievers were felicitated virtually by Union Ministers, Govt of India, at the Academy’s Awards presentation ceremony through a webinar scheduled for Sept 19, 2022.

Alia is elated on winning the award. ETimes quoted her saying, “I want to thank the Priyadarshni Academy for bestowing me with the Smita Patil Memorial Award for Best Actor. It’s a tremendous honour to be here today, one I’ll cherish for the years to come. India has the most incredible legacy of the arts, and I’m eternally grateful that our work is a part of it. Cinema teaches us the importance of believing in the beauty of dreams, to follow them with dedication and humility, and never quit.”

This year has been a great one for Alia. She was seen in SS Rajamouli’s RRR with Ram Charan and Jr NTR. The actress also delivered an unforgettable performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. Apart from this, she also impressed fans as Badrunnisa in Darlings.

Now after Brahmastra, Alia will be next seen in Rocky Aur Rocky Ki Prem Kahani. She is set to make her Hollywood debut with Heart of Stone.
