Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar team up for her second production, Vasan Bala’s Jigra

Alia Bhatt started her cinematic journey as a leading actress with Karan Johar in his directorial Student Of The Year. Now, it seems like life has come full circle for her as the actress reunites with him for her next production. Alia has announced her second film as a producer that sees her team up with Karan’s Dharma Productions.

The official announcement came on Tuesday as Alia announced that her production house Eternal Sunshine is joining hands with Dharma Productions for her next. The film is titled Jigra and is directed by Vasan Bala. Alia is producing as well as starring in the film. An intriguing announcement video is released by the makers that shows the courageous story of a sister.

Along with it, Alia penned a sweet note. It read, “From debuting in a Dharma production to now producing a film with them, in many ways, it feels like coming full circle from where I started. Every day is a different day… exciting, challenging (and a little scary)… not just as an actor but also as a producer as we bring this film to life, and I CANNOT wait to share more as we move forward.”

In the video, a voiceover sees Alia telling her brother not to worry as she is there to protect her. An animated image of Alia in a shirt and jeans with a bag on her shoulder, is every bit intriguing. The voiceover creates an eerie environment surrounded by some amazing background music. Described as a story of ‘unbreakable love & unshakable courage’, Jigra has a theatrical release date of September 27, 2024. Further details about the cast and the film are yet to be revealed. Although, there have been reports that The Archies actor Vedang Raina will be a part of it too.

Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt upcoming films

Karan and Alia teamed up earlier this year for his seventh directorial Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The film became a critical and commercial success. Now, Karan is expected to start his next directorial soon which will be an action film.

As for Alia, the actress has one more officially announced film other than Jigra. She will star in Farhan Akhtar’s Jee Le Zaraa with Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra. She is also rumoured to be starring in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra with Ranveer Singh. Alia is also reported to be a part of the first female-led spy film in the YRF spy universe as well.
