Nepotism has been a hot topic of discussion in Bollywood for quite some time now. Over the years, many Bollywood celebrities including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Varun Dhawan, and Arjun Kapoor among others have shared their thoughts on the nepotism debate. Alia Bhatt, daughter of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and actor Soni Razdan, has now reacted to the debate around nepotism in Bollywood.
Here’s what Alia Bhatt said about nepotism…
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, Alia made it clear that she never takes her work for granted. She said, “It has definitely come up a lot in conversation over the last couple of years. The long and short of it is, I empathise. I understand that it’s possibly been easier for me to get through the door than maybe the next person. And I compare my dreams to another person’s dreams: no dream is bigger or smaller, or more intense. Everybody’s dreams are the same, everybody’s desire is the same. So, I completely understand where that conversation comes from.”
The Raazi actress went on to add, “The only thing I can say is that I acknowledge the fact that I have gotten that head start. I acknowledge the fact that I do have that privilege, which is why I give 100 percent everyday and I never take my work for granted. The only thing I can do is keep my head down and keep working.”
This is not the first time she has reacted to the nepotism debate in Bollywood. Last year, Alia had strongly reacted to trolls attacking her for being a starkid. At that time, she had said, “If you don’t like me, don’t watch me.”
Alia gushes over daughter Raha…
In her recent interview, Alia also spoke about her daughter Raha. Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor welcomed their first child, a baby girl in November last year. Since then, Alia has been enjoying motherhood.
Talking about daughter Raha, Alia said, “My daughter started touching my face. I think that’s the best thing that’s happened to me this past week. Because now when I’m feeding her, she just takes a minute, looks up to me and starts touching my face. It’s like a romantic moment between the two of us. And it’s literally the best thing that’s ever happened to me in my life.”
Alia talks about having a baby at the peak of her career…
The actress said, “You would never ask a man a question about whether having a baby at the peak of his career was a brave decision. I’m being asked, ‘Are you willing to cut your pace down because you’re having a family?’
Alia added that having a baby was a ‘natural decision’. She said, “I feel like the decision to start a family was very much led by love. Whatever decision I make, if it feels right, I’ll do it. I could be offered the biggest movie, the biggest team, but if it doesn’t feel right, you’ll see me taking 16 steps back. Having a baby was just a very happy, natural decision. There wasn’t even a question.”
Talking about the new phase, Alia said that she has grown into a more patient person after becoming a mother.
On the work front, Alia is set to make her Hollywood debut with Heart of Stone. The upcoming film also stars Gal Gadot, Jamie Dornan, Sophie Okonedo and Matthias Schweighofer. Apart from this, Alia also has Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. It also stars Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi.
