Alia Bhatt is quietly building a legacy as an actor, entrepreneur, producer, and now storyteller. The actress has her daughter Raha and husband Ranbir Kapoor by her side. Alia has always been open about being protective about her child, Raha. She emphasises the importance of not putting pressure on her daughter, believing that every child has a unique personality and should be allowed to find their own path.
Alia Bhatt opens up about parenting daughter Raha Kapoor
Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor welcomed Raha in November 2022. She took her time before introducing her to the public, officially presenting her to the media on Christmas 2023. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Alia shared that she relies heavily on her instincts as a mother. “When it comes to the legacy that I envisioned as an actor and a mother, I don’t think it has been calculated from my side. The choices I make as a mother are also very instinctive to what I feel is best for my child,” she explains. “I am very meticulous, but I can also be very random. So I’m kind of a mix of both.”
She wants her daughter to discover her own identity. “I do believe children are born with their own personality. You just have to nurture and care for them and let them find their own feet. Let them be their own person. I don’t think I want her (Raha) to ever be any version of herself that she doesn’t feel most comfortable with,” Alia adds.
Alia on her film choices
Alia emphasises the distinction between her roles as an actor and her personal values. “I do have certain values. I may not necessarily play that in every character because I feel what you do as a character and as an actor is very different as to what choices you make as an individual in your real life. That’s the magic and fun of moviemaking,” she asserts.
Beyond acting, Alia founded the apparel brand Ed-a-Mamma in 2020, marking her entry into entrepreneurship. Recently, she debuted as a storyteller with her first children’s picture book, ‘Ed Finds a Home’, which launches a new series. Alia is set to star as a super agent alongside Sharvari in YRF Spy Universe’s first female-led film. It will be directed by Shiv Rawail.
