Alia Bhatt REVEALS what Shah Rukh Khan said to her on turning producer for Darlings

The year 2022 is turning out to be quite spectacular for Alia Bhatt in not just personal but professional front as well. Not just she got married to Ranbir Kapoor earlier this year and is now expecting their first kid, next month she is also set to unveil her first film as a producer, Darlings.

The trailer of Darlings was released today and it has left the audiences quite impressed. For Alia Bhatt, it is doubly exciting as she is co-producing the film with Shah Rukh Khan and his company Red Chillies Entertainment. The film is directed by debutante Jasmeet K Reen.

During the trailer launch event, Alia opened up about how her foray into production happened. She said, “When the narration was given to me, I was like dekhte hain ye kahaan jaa raha hai as I went in with a totally blank slate. In 2019, when I met Jasmeet and Gaurav (Verma, COO Red Chillies and co-producer), I had a lot of back schedule, but I had this thing that I will hear every script and narration because you never know. The story started like normal and then suddenly it just shifted gears and how. I was so surprised and I am rarely surprised. So, I was just like we have to do this and then very naturally, I was like okay, listen, I think I would like to be a producer on this as well. And Gaurav at that moment was extremely supportive. He was like that is a fantastic idea and we must do this together.”

But turning producer meant Alia Bhatt would be producing the film alongside Shah Rukh Khan, who bankrolled her debut film Student Of The Year as well and acted alongside her in Dear Zindagi.

The actress then went on to reveal what SRK said to her when she told him about her idea of foraying into production. She shared, “Shah Rukh called me and he said main usually co-produce nahi karta but main tere saath karunga, and bahut maze karenge and it will be quite good and it will be one for the memories. Recently he saw the film and he messaged me, he said in typical Darlings lingo, ‘Thanks you darlings for doing this movie’.”

Darlings also features Shefali Shah and Vijay Varma alongside Alia, and the film will release on Netflix on August 5. With this new venture of production for Alia along with it also being her first release after wedding and pregnancy announcement, Darlings is surely turning out to be a much-anticipated project.
