Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi gets postponed, Here’s the new release date

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial venture Gangubai Kathiawadi is one of the most anticipated films of 2022. The film gained a thunderous response to the trailer of the film. However, now the film has been postponed and it is observed that they have taken the decision owing to the COVID situation. Many filmmakers have chosen to postpone the film for later dates and SLB’s latest venture is also following the suit. Gangubai Kathiawadi which was scheduled to hit the big screens on 18th February will now release on February 25. 

An official statement was also issued regarding the Gangubai Kathiawadi release date on their Instagram which read, “Witness her reign in cinemas near you on 25th February 2022. #GangubaiKathiawadi”. Even though the makers have postponed it a week later, fans are still excited about the film. Reacting to the post, one commented, “thats such a great news!!” While another one said, “Very much excited for the movie”. Earlier, Alia Bhatt starrer was selected for Berlin Film Festival 2022. Sharing the official statement on their page, it read, “The power of this has no bounds. #GangubaiKathiawadi officially selected for the #BerlinFilmFestival2022” 

Meanwhile, reportedly, Gangubai Kathiawadi is adapted from Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai. It is about Ganga Harjivandas, a simple girl of Kathiawad who had no choice but to embrace ways of destiny and swing it in her favour. The film shows how she marks her own territory and turns Gangubai, a madame in the red light area of Kamathipura.

Besides Alia who plays the titular role, Gangubai Kathiawadi also stars Ajay Devgn. The film is directed and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The much-awaited film will now release on February 25 in the cinemas.
