Singer-composer Amaal Mallik had recently expressed his displeasure with the nominations at the award function with a long post on Facebook. He was saddened with the fact that Randeep Hooda did not receive a nomination for best actor for his film ‘Sarbjit’, but Aishwarya Rai Bachchan did find a place in best actress category for the same film. Knowing the efforts put in by Randeep, the singer felt that it was totally unfair of the organisers to overlook such a talent. Soon a debate broke out on whether award ceremonies are biased or not. A certain section of people also misinterpreted Amaal’s post as an insult to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
But in a recent interview, Amaal has given out his justification and said that he did not mean to insult Aishwarya. He said, ‘I wrote the post in a go. I didn’t take time and think over it for days. When I just felt, I just wrote it. And I think I raised very valid questions. I was misinterpreted by many people that I was trying to put down Aishwarya Rai and that I felt that Randeep Hooda only deserved. But, she deserved no doubt, she did a great job but for someone who played the title role, who has done that hard work, who has looked the part and acted and he’s my friend so I thought I should say something. And, I did.”

We agree with the fact that Amaal raised quite a few valid questions with his post. Amaal was gutsy enough to challenge his own nomination for music he delivered through ‘Baaghi’. He felt that there were better albums that could have made it to nominations.
