Kangana Ranaut starrer ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ finally saw the light of the day on January 25 after lots of controversies. Kangana, as Rani Laxmi Bai excelled in the character. While the audiences and critics praised her work as an actor and director, she didn’t receive much response from Bollywood actors. Except a few, not many commented on her work. She was disappointed by this and even blasted on them during an event saying that a group of actors had ganged up against her movie. Post that, actors like Anupam Kher, Tanushree Dutta, Sushmita Sen and others appreciated Kangana’s work. One more actress has raved about her performance and she is Vidya Balan.
During an event, when the ‘Dirty Picture’ actress was asked whether she has watched ‘Manikarnika’, Vidya said, “I watched ‘Manikarnika’ in the theatre and I was blown away by the amount of hard work that has gone into it. It’s there for everyone to see and the war sequences are among the best that I have seen in any Indian film. Congratulations to the entire team.”
After director Krish’s exit from the movie, Kangana took over the reins of ‘Manikarnika’ and her name was on the top of the credit list as the director. The actress claimed that she directed 70% of the movie.
Talking about ‘Manikarnika’s collection, the movie is inching towards the coveted 100 crore club and is still doing a good business at the ticket window. The movie was released across 3000 screens in the domestic market and 700 screens in the overseas market.
