‘Family’: Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt come together for a unique short film

Celebrated actors from all over India came together for a unique short film ‘Family’ which was conceptualised and virtually directed by Prasoon Pandey. The motive behind making this short-film was to raise awareness about Coronavirus as well as raise money for the film industry’s workers and daily wage earners.

‘Made-at-home’ short film, ‘Family’ brought together some of the most popular actors from across India. The film features Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra and Diljit Dosanjh from Bollywood, Rajinikanth from Tamil cinema, Mohanlal and Mammootty from Malayalam cinema.

Shiva Rajkumar (Kannada), Prosenjit Chatterjee (Bengali), Chiranjeevi (Telugu), and Sonalee Kulkarni (Marathi) were also a part of it. The short-film begins with Big B searching for his sunglasses and when he is unable to find them, every other actor starts searching for it. Finally, PeeCee while handing over the sunglasses to Big B asks him why does he even need them now, to which he replies that he just wanted it to keep it safe because if it lies around and gets lost then everyone will have to search it anyways.

The ‘Piku’ actor at the end of the film explains that none of the actors stepped outside of their home to shoot this short-film. The actor emphasised on the importance of staying at home in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak and thereby save lives.

Revealing the reason why ‘Family’ was made, Big B shared, “There’s another reason why we made this film. The Indian film industry is one, we are all one family. But there is another large family behind us which supports us and works with us, and that is our workers and daily wage earners, who are facing great difficulty due to the lockdown. We all have come together and teamed up with sponsors and TV channel to raise a fund. This fund will be distributed to our workers and daily wage earners to provide them with some relief in these tough times.”

Well, we must say this is really a very effective and unique way of sending the message across the masses.
