Amitabh Bachchan issues clarification amid legal threat on ‘no-helmet’ row

Amitabh Bachchan had quite a fun experience recently as he took a bike ride to work. He shared a picture of the thrilling ride on his social media, looking lively as ever. The fun experience, however, got under the scanner of Mumbai Police.

Amitabh Bachchan may face legal action by Mumbai Police

Amitabh Bachchan posted a picture on a bike with a sweet note thanking the stranger driving him. He wrote, “Thank you for the ride buddy .. don’t know you .. but you obliged and got me on time to location of work .. faster and in avoidance of the unsolvable traffic jams .. thank you capped , shorts and yellowed T – shirt owner (sic)”.

Not just him, even Anushka Sharma took a bike ride the same day and even her pictures went viral online. However, now both the actors are facing a possible legal action for it. In both cases, neither the driver nor the actors are seen wearing a helmet in the pictures and the netizens pointed that out. The Mumbai Police reacted to that and wrote on Twitter, “We have shared this with traffic branch @MTPHereToHelp.”

Amitabh Bachchan issues clarification

However, the senior actor took to his personal blog to clarify what actually transpired. He wrote, “The fact of the matter is that this is on location shoot on the street of Mumbai .. It is Sunday .. formal permission taken for shoot at a lane in Ballard Estate .. permission sought for Sunday because all offices are shut and there is no public or traffic ..One lane in the region BLOCKED off by Police permission for shoot .. the lane barely 30-40 meters .. The dress I wear is my costume for the film ..” 

He added, “I AM JUST FOOLING AROUND BY GETTING ON THE BIKE , OF A CREW MEMBER .. NOT EVEN MOVING ANY WHERE, BUT GIVING THE IMPRESSION THAT I TRAVELLED TO SAVE TIME .. But yes I would do it if there was a problem of punctuality .. and wear helmet and follow all the rules and regulations of the traffic guide lines ..”

The senior actor also pointed out the benefit of taking a bike to work. He said, “I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT DOES THIS .. had seen Akshay Kumar do this to get to location on time .. wore helmet etc., on the bike of his Security person .. no one could recognise .. and it was rapid and efficient .. and it worked well ..Thank you all for your concern and your care and love and your spanking me and trolling ..  !!!”

Bachchan ended the blog stating that he didn’t break any rules. He wrote, “Sorry , people , for causing concern and giving any wrong  concept of breaking traffic rules ..  I did not .. love all of you .. (sic)”

Amitabh Bachchan’s upcoming films

Meanwhile, on the work front Big B is quite busy. He has the shoot of Project K to complete, which got halted due to his injury recently. The film also features Prabhas and Deepika Padukone. Apart from that, he has The Intern remake too with Deepika as well as the court room drama, Section 84.
