The Tanushree Dutta and Nana Patekar row has finally led to the onset of the much needed #MeToo movement in Bollywood. While many top actors came forward to lend their support to the movement, there were few who completely refrained from answering questions related to this case.

At the trailer launch of ‘Thugs of Hindostan’, Amitabh Bachchan refused to comment on the issue saying that neither is he Nana nor is he Tanushree to make any comment on the issue. Soon after his comment, Tanushree in an interview to Hindustan Times said, “I’m hurt, as these are people who do movies on social causes. They play roles in films and the audience applauds. But when it comes to standing up and doing something about what is happening in front of you, there are these evasive statements that don’t make sense.”

Today, on the occasion of his birthday, Amitabh Bachchan has finally opened up on sexual harassment at the workplace. The actor took to Twitter and wrote, “An interview on the eve of birthday: It is that special day again…special for us, that is. Why (cont)”

In this interview apart from commenting on other topics, Amitabh commented on sexual harassment at workplaces and said, “No woman should ever be subjected to any kind of misbehaviour, or disorderly conduct; especially at her workplace. Such acts should immediately be brought to the notice of concerned authorities, and corrective measures be taken, either through filing complaints or a recourse to law. Discipline and civic, social and moral curriculums, should be adopted at a very early educational level.”

He further said, “Women, children and the weaker sections of our society are the most vulnerable. They need to be under special protective care. It has been most heartening to see women representations in most work vocations on the increase in our country. It would be an irreparable blemish if we are not able to provide them the welcome they deserve and the dignity of the security of their presence.”

Though Big B hasn’t specifically spoken about the Tanushree-Nana row, he has finally commented on the issue that has taken Bollywood by storm.
