Being a superstar is not an easy job as popularity is a double-edged sword. Bollywood’s megastar Amitabh Bachchan recently shared a tweet in which he advocated how ‘clapping and shankh vibrations’ can destroy or reduce the potency of any virus during Amavasya(New moon). Obviously he didn’t think through the consequence of sharing this and soon he was slammed by the netizens for spreading misinformation.
Taking to the micro-blogging site, Amitabh wrote, “AN OPINION GIVEN : 5 pm ; 22nd Mar, ‘amavasya’, darkest day of month; virus, bacteria evil force at max potential & power! Clapping shankh vibrations reduce/ destroy virus potency Moon passing to new ‘nakshatra’ Revati. cumulative vibration betters blood circulation (sic)”
Bollywood screenwriter, lyricist and comedian Varun Grover slammed the ‘Piku’ actor for his ‘shameful superstitious propaganda’. “And we have learned to let go of besharmi of many of our celebs but this is DANGEROUS too. Indian lives are at stake here and you need to be more responsible,” Grover wrote.
Another user slammed the veteran actor by questioning if he ever went to school.
While one of the users commented, “Instead of spreading dangerous garbage, maybe help in amplifying people who are actually trying to get protective gear for doctors.”
Several users tagged Twitter Support to take strict actions against Big B for spreading misinformation amidst the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

At a time when the entire country is reeling under the effects of the deadly Coronavirus, such misinformed tweets coming from one of the most celebrated actors of Hindi film industry is appalling.
The ‘Piku’ actor deleted his tweet after receiving so much backlash from the netizens.
Celebs should understand the power of their reach and not undermine it by sharing unverified information and superstitious beliefs. So far around 415 Covid-19 positive cases have been registered in India and up to 7 death cases have been reported so far.
