Nagraj Manjule’s ‘Sairat’ set a new benchmark in the Marathi film industry. It not only earned the name of a blockbuster but was also admired widely for an extremely relevant storyline, presented at the right time. To add to that, language didn’t act as a bar for this one.
Since then, we were waiting for Manjule to step into Bollywood and make a film with equal merit. Looks like the day isn’t far, since we hear he has already devoted quite a lot of time in developing the script of his Bollywood directorial debut.
But! An even better piece of news is, none other than Amitabh Bachchan is reportedly approached to play the lead and has already given his nod too. (Also Read: When Amitabh Bachchan was reborn after his near-fatal accident on ‘Coolie’ sets)
“Nagraj worked on it for a year-and-a-half before taking the script to Bachchan in January. The project was locked soon after.” The source also revealed that the film is expected to go on floors later this year,” Mumbai Mirror quoted a source.
As per the report, Big B will essay a staunch patriarch’s character which as well will have its share of grey shades. If everything works out fine, the film might go on floors sometime this year.
Waiting already, aren’t we?
Big B recently finished shooting for Aditya Chopra’s ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ and had traveled to Malta for the same. At the same time, he has been filming for ‘102 Not Out’ along with Rishi Kapoor. He is also making a crucial comeback on television, since ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ season 9 is set to kick off again.
However, Manjule is yet to confirm the news.
