Recently Bollywood’s Dhak Dhak girl actress Madhuri Dixit and Megastar Amitabh Bachchan found themselves embroiled in a controversy, this was for promoting Maggi noodles. The ministry of consumer affairs has charged them for misleading the consumer by promoting a product, that was not safe for consumption. Maggi brand ambassadors, were “warned of action” by the government if their advertisements for Nestle’s popular noodle product were found to be misleading.
Recently a case has been lodged at the Barabanki court in Uttar Pradesh against the Nestle India by UP food regulator FSDA over safety standards of it’s Maggi Product. Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan, Preity Zinta and Madhuri Dixit were dragged into the controversy for promoting the product.
Amitabh Bachchan said, he no more endorses the brand, ” I did check with Nestle, who make the product, whether this is all right and if they are sure… I even put a clause in my contract where I said that I hope you people defend me, legally, if something happens.”
The Nestle India company has come out with a clarification that they have got their product samples tested in an external laboratory as well as in-house and the product has been found “safe to eat”.
Madhuri Dixit took to Twitter to explain that she met with the brand officials. “Nestle has reassured me that they adhere to stringent testing for quality and safety and are working with the authorities closely.”
