Superstar Amitabh Bachchan recently attended the trailer launch event of his upcoming release ‘Pink’, along with director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, producer Shoojit Sircar, and the star cast of the film. Since Independence Day is nearing, Bachchan was asked what’s his wish this Independence Day, and his reply would bowl you over.
The superstar, known for his humbleness, answered simply, “I want India to be free of rapes.”
Needless to say, this was appreciated with a huge round of applause.
“As Indians and individuals we need to educate ourselves to give importance to women in our lives. We should understand their contribution and presence in society. We need to have strong laws,” Big B said. (sic)
“The base of all is we are losing respect for the female gender and it will come through education and these kind of films. It will take time but it will happen. I am confident,” he added.(sic)
‘Pink’ touches upon crucial issues like sexual violence on women, and the law’s stand in prohibiting it. Also starring Taapsee Pannu and Kirti Kulhari in pivotal roles, it will hit the screens on September 2016.
