EXCLUSIVE: Ananya Panday opens up on comparisons with Deepika Padukone: I don’t know why people love pitying women against each other

Actress Ananya Panday is gearing up for the release of her upcoming movie Gehraiyaan. The diva is leaving no stone unturned to promote the movie along with the other cast including Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Dhairya Karwa and captain of the ship Shakun Batra. The movie is releasing on Amazon Prime Video on February 11.

In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, when Ananya was asked if ever she had apprehension that there will be comparison of her with the other actors in the film, she said, “It’s a very big deal that I am even getting to be part of this film. It didn’t matter to me how big or small the role is. I just wanted to challenge myself as an actor. I wanted to work with Shakun as I loved his film Kapoor & Sons and Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu. I have been a huge fan of Deepika because as a female actor the choices she has made I think it’s really brave and inspiring in that sense.”

Talking about Siddhant, Ananya added, “I loved Sid in Gully Boy and was really excited to work with Dhairya as well. So, for me those thoughts don’t even really come in my head. Even when I did Student Of The Year 2 and Pati Patni Aur Woh, these comparisons are inevitable. But I don’t know why it always happens with female actors. People love pitying women against each other. It’s quite the opposite.”

She further said, “There is so much love and support not just between Deepika and I but I think all the actresses in the industry. Even when the trailer came, Sara (Ali Khan), Janhvi (Kapoor), Kiara (Advani), everyone messaged me and put it up on their Instagram Stories. I think there is a lot of love and support and there was no such feeling or thought.”
