Anil Kapoor might have been a part of the Hindi film industry for over four decades now, but the actor possesses the enthusiasm and excitement towards his work that any newcomer would have. He becomes the centre of attention in whatever he does because of that energy and he indeed seems to be ageing in reverse. This Friday, the actor is coming alongside Neetu Kapoor, Kiara Advani and Varun Dhawan in JugJugg Jeeyo and his comic timing in the film has already created quite an intrigue amongst the audiences.

Anil went on to say, “Main galatfehmi mein kabhi nahi tha. Maine jo choices ki hain films mein, mujhe aisa kabhi nahi tha ki main aise hi role karun. Maine apni umar ke hisaab se choice ki. Maine kabhi aisi koshish nahi ki ke rubber ko itna kheechun ke wo toot jaye. Isse pehle ki log bolein ki abhi tu kyun kar raha hai aisa, main hi decision le leta hun, which was a right decision where I decided to do films which have good characters. They were lead roles but different from typical lead characters like Biwi No.1, Taal, No Entry, Welcome, Dil Dhadakne Do or Malang. (I never misunderstood my position. Whatever choices I made, I was never in the mindset that I wanted to do only a certain kind of roles. I made age-appropriate choices. I never tried to stretch it like a rubber to such an extent that it breaks. Before people could say why am I doing roles below my age, I decided for myself and it was a right decision to choose films with good characters. I did lead roles that were different from typical ones like in Biwi No.1, Taal, No Entry, Welcome, Dil Dhadakne Do or Malang).”

The actor insists that it was the comfort in his choices that reflected in his portrayals and made filmmakers cast him in diverse roles going further. “Maine filmein kari but I chose the characters sensibly. I was happy and comfortable doing it and wo chehre pe nazar aata hai. When you are trying to force yourself to be someone you are not, or trying too hard to achieve that with special affects or this and that, wo nazar aata hai. And log aaj bahut sharp ho gaye hain, samajhte hain. Thoda bahut ek-do baar bewakoof bana sakte hain par ghadi-ghadi nahi. Isse pehle wo bolein, khud karlo. Mujhe log bolte hain ki tu ye kar na yaar, tu kar sakta hai, par main bolta hun ki main kar sakta hun par main karna nahi chahta. Ab main Varun ka role thodi kar sakta hun, Varun ke baap ka hi kar sakta hun na. Logon ki nazar jati hai kyunki main wo karta hun jo mujhe suit karta hai. (I chose my characters sensibly. I was happy and comfortable in them and it showed on my face. When you try to force yourself to be something that you are not or try too hard by different means, it shows. And people today are quite smart. You can’t fool them for long. Before they point it out, do it yourself. I have been told by people to choose certain kind of roles, saying that I can do them, I tell them that I can but I don’t want to. Now (in JugJugg Jeeyo), I can’t do Varun’s role, only his father’s. People notice me because I choose roles that suit me),” he shared.
