Anil Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah go long back in their association in the Hindi film industry, especially since the latter was a part of the former’s first big break in Bollywood, Woh 7 Din. Since then, their professional collaboration as well as their personal camaraderie has just gotten stronger by the day.
Today marks the 72nd birthday of the thespian Naseeruddin Shah and Anil Kapoor had quite a special wish for his friend and inspiration. Sharing glimpses of the two together in throwback pictures from Woh 7 Din and Karma, Anil wrote, “Two films Woh 7 Din and Karma with the great Naseer Bhai that changed my life… Happy Birthday to one of my biggest inspirations and actors I admire. @naseeruddin49 (sic)”.

Woh 7 Din marked Anil’s first Hindi film as a leading man and the romantic drama directed by Bapu also featured Shah and Padmini Kolhapure. Before that, Anil also had a cameo in Hum Paanch that also featured Shah. Three years after Woh 7 Din, the duo again collaborated on Karma. Shah and Anil then took a decade to reunite on screen in the 1996 film Rajkumar, also featuring Madhuri Dixit. The next wait was even longer as their next project together happened close to two decades later as they appeared in Anees Bazmee’s Welcome Back that also starred John Abraham, Shruti Haasan and Nana Patekar alongside them.

On the professional front, Anil is currently basking in the success of his last release JugJugg Jeeyo. Up next, he has Animal, Fighter, Abhinav Bindra biopic, Takht and The Night Manager remake. As for the birthday boy Shah, he will next be seen in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Kuttey.
