Bollywood has been inspired by the late Bala Saheb Thackeray a number of times , we had Amitabh Bachchan’s character in Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Sarkar’ and ‘Sarkar Raj’ modelled on the Tiger. Now it seems that Anil Kapoor too will be playing a character in Sanjay Gupta ‘s next ‘Mumbai Saga’ that has shades of Shiv Sena’s supremo Bala Saheb Thackeray.
As per sources, “Besides Balasaheb, Anil’s character also borrows elements from Vasai-Virar strongman Bhai Thakur and NCP Chief Sharad Pawar. Sanjay is working closely with Hussain and Milap and is providing valuable inputs to build the character.”
Sanjay Gupta too confirmed it without naming anyone, he said, “It’s too early to talk about the character since the film is still being written. But yes, it is inspired by some real politicians who were instrumental in converting Bombay to Mumbai and changing the city’s landscape.”
S Hussain Zaidi has penned the story. Gupta’s last film ‘Shootout At Wadala’ too was based on Zaidi’s book ‘Dongri to Dubai’. So now it seems that Anil Kapoor has earned his tiger stripes
