As per traditions, the Israeli flag was raised and their national anthem, Hatikvah, was played after Israeli gymnast Artem Dolgopyat won the country’s first-ever Olympic medal in artistic gymnastics. However, when it was discovered that Anu Malik composed song Mera Mulk Mera Desh from the film Diljale is actually a copy of Israel’s national anthem, Indian Twitter had a field day creating memes and cracking hilarious jokes.

The video of Israel’s national anthem at the Tokyo Olympics went viral instantly, with many viewers pointing out that Anu Malik, who has previously been trolled for plagiarizing music, has done it once again. Hatikvah, which was composed in the 19th century, was adopted as the national anthem of Israel in 1948. Kumar Sanu and Aditya Narayan sang the patriotic song Mera Mulk Mera Desh, which was composed by Anu Malik and released in 1996. Ajay Devgn featured in the song.
