Bollywood actor Anupam Kher has won the hearts of many with his talent and acting prowess. He has worked in Bollywood and Hollywood films till date. And the actor has even worked in American TV shows. In an interview recently, Kher opened up about his life experiences. He spoke of the only house he ever purchased. The actor revealed that he currently lives in a rented apartment in Mumbai and shared that the only home he ever purchased was for his mother Dulari Kher in Mumbai.
Speaking with the Times of India, Anupam Kher said, “I don’t even own an apartment in Mumbai. I live in a rented apartment. I decided 4-5 years back that I don’t want to own property. The only property I bought four years ago was a house for my mother in Shimla.”
Kher opened up about his mother Dulari’s dream of owning a home in Shimla as she lived there for several years in rented accommodation. He revealed his mother zeroed in on a ‘small house with an entrance from the outside which was part of a nine-bedroom home. Anupam Kher then mentioned that he was to give his mother ‘something exceptional’. He shared that he asked the broker to inquire with the owner if they were willing to sell the property.

Anupam Kher said his mother checked the other rooms of the house and remarked that they were very nice. The actor mentioned that while he struck the deal to purchase the mansion, he asked his mom to check the other spaces in the mansion. The actor said, ”’Do you want to see the other rooms?’ I asked her and said it was very big and ‘bahut accha hai’.”
The Saaransh actor finally brought the house for his mother in Shimla. Recalling his mother Dulari’s reaction, Anupam Kher said, “‘Aap ka dimag kharab hai! Mujhe nahi chahiye itna bada ghar (You are mad! I don’t want such a huge house)…’ she scolded me.”
Anupam Kher’s 9-bedroom mansion in Shimla is located in the suburb of Shoghi. The actor shared the detail during the interview.
