So, the inevitable has finally happened as Anupam Kher resigned as the chairman of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) citing work commitments and busy schedule. The actor was appointed as the chairman of the prestigious institute in October 2017. He had replaced Gajendra Chauhan. The veteran actor took to Twitter and shared the news of his resignation.
“It has been an honour, a privilege & a great learning experience to be the Chairman of the prestigious @FTIIOfficial. But because of my international assignments, I won’t have much time to devote at the institute. Hence decided to send my resignation. Thank you. @Ra_THORe”

In another tweet, Kher thanked the staff, students and teachers at the FTII and said, “Thank you staff, teachers & students of @FTIIOfficial for your support & appreciation during my tenure as chairman. As an individual you can always reach out to me. We have constituted a very learned & capable governing body & academic society who will guide you at their best.”

Twitterati, as usual, had mixed response to his decision; Let’s check out some of the reactions:
Ideally you should not have accepted the post if you were already committed to international assignments and if you signed the assignments after becoming FTII chairman, then you don’t deserved to be on that prestigious post! #AnupamKher https://t.co/LCMchX0NGE

Chairman of FTII is a ceremonial post and not a full time job. If #AnupamKher has a commercial aSignment for long term, he has a valid reason to quit.
let the government now get some one from Regional cinemas . Rajani Kant or Manoj Tiwari or Moonmoon Sen to take over— Pankaj Acharya. (@PankajA57870704) October 31, 2018
A great person never misused his position. @AnupamPKher

How correct is it to make Anupam Kher FTII Chairman when he has his own Academy for Acting and Filmmaking. Failure of FTII will help Academies such as his.

“Anupam Kher” Educational institutions are not playgrounds where one can get a post, resign if you get some show. Such posts need commitments and dignity. Good that @AnupamPKher is associated with show but he should have thought of this before taking a post in @FTIIOfficial

Looks BJP actor #AnupamKher has also lost faith in his masters. He resigned as Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) chairman.
