The Kashmir Files is riding high on positive reviews from the audience and critics. The movie is receiving high praise from all sections. It was only recently that director Vivek Agnihotri and the producers of the movie met with the honourable Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. The PM lauded the movie and appreciated the efforts of the makers. On the other hand, The Kashmir Files has witnessed phenomenal growth at the box office, since its release. Several Indian states have now declared the Anupam Kher starrer tax free.

The Haryana government declared the Vivek Agnihotri directorial tax free on March 11. After the release of the movie, the government directed multiplexes and theatres to not levy the GST on the movie tickets. After Haryana, Gujarat exempted the tax on movie tickets for the movie. Taking to Twitter, the Gujarat CM’s office tweeted, “Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel has decided to give tax exemption to the film ‘The Kashmir Files’ in the state.” Madhya Pradesh was next to join. It became the third state after Haryana and Gujarat to declare the Anupam Kher movie tax free. Other than this, the Madhya Pradesh government on Monday announced that police officers in the state will be granted leave to watch the movie.

Amidst the much buzz around the movie, the government of Karnataka declared the movie based on the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits, tax free, on Monday. Karnataka CM, Basavaraj Bommai said, “The Kashmir Files movie brings the truth about what happened in Kashmir during the 80s and 90s. I hope all Kashmiri Pandits will get back their land and property and settled down there. We declared the movie tax-free in the state.” Pramod Sawant, caretaker chief minister of Goa also declared The Kashmir Files tax free, after watching it.

After Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Goa, the states- Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand also declared the Anupam Kher starrer tax free in the respective states. The state government of the respective states announced their decision and exempted the entertainment tax on The Kashmir Files for the cinema-goers.

Meanwhile, at the box office, the Vivek Agnihotri movie is breaking all records. The movie is proving to be one of the most successful in the post-pandemic era. Talking about the movie, it showcases the immense suffering that the Kashmiri Hindus underwent when they were forced to leave the valley. The movie features Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty, and Pallavi Joshi in key roles.
