Now, in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Anurag explained why he thinks a film with King Khan will always be a dream.
Anurag Kashyap talks about working with Shah Rukh Khan
Anurag Kashyap said, “His persona is so big. Woh mere liye Bombay Velvet naa hojaye. Mein drown ho jaunga uske andar. Woh bohot mushkil kaam hai. Woh sapna hai, bas sapna hi rahega. Waha nahi poch sakta mein. (I hope it doesn’t end up like Bombay Velvet. I’ll drown myself in it. So, it’s a difficult thing. It’s a dream and it’ll always be a dream. I can’t reach there).”
When asked if ever tried reaching out to him, Anurag responded saying, “Ki hai maine. Ek do baar koshish ki hai maine. Nahi hua. (I have tried. I tried reaching out once or twice. But it didn’t happen) See, he is Shah Rukh Khan. He is King Khan. He’s a big mainstream actor. My problem is not with him at all. His fans have an expectation. Like Ranveer (Singh) fans had expectations. These stars have come with fan following and the fan following is what I’m sacred of because the fan-followings cancel you.”

Anurag went on to add, “I am constantly trying to do something new. The larger the fan base you have it doesn’t want you to do something new. So, I don’t want to become the catalyst for them to either cancel. I’ll get cancelled first. So, I would rather stay away from it.”
During the candid conversation, Anurag also recalled being thrown out of Salman Khan’s Tere Naam and explained why he had to replace Ranveer Singh with Ranbir Kapoor in Bombay Velvet and how he still feels guilty about the same.
