Netflix’s latest web series ‘Sacred Games’ starring Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte has been garnering lots of praises for its gripping storyline and terrific performances by its lead actors.
Despite the applauds, the series has landed in controversy due to its negative portrayal of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Complaints have been filed against the producers of the series, actor Nawazuddin and Netflix for abusing Rajiv Gandhi on the show by Congress activists.
However, Rajiv Gandhi’s son Rahul Gandhi took to his Twitter account and clarified his stand on this entire controversy by posting, “BJP/RSS believe the freedom of expression must be policed & controlled. I believe this freedom is a fundamental democratic right. My father lived and died in the service of India. The views of a character on a fictional web series can never change that.”

Even ‘Veere Di Wedding’ actress Swara Bhasker lauded, Rahul Gandhi’s views as she posted, “It is impressive that a mainstream politician like @RahulGandhi is taking this clear & progressive stand on freedom of expression & censorship. Also it’s gracious & mature that he is able to set aside the personal for the larger goal of democratic rights. #CreditWhereDue.”
