Actress Anushka Sharma who is a vegetarian and an animal lover has been named as PETA Person of the Year by the animal rights organisation People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). The actress has clinched the title thanks to her social work for the safety of animals. From campaigning for the safety of dogs against fireworks to advocating for horses who are forced to pull carriages, the actress has done her share of social work for animals.
“Anushka Sharma is a proud animal rights proponent whose kindness and initiative know no bounds,” says PETA Associate Director Sachin Bangera. For those unaware, the actress was named PETA’s Hottest Vegetarian Celebrity way back in 2015. The actress recently launched the cruelty-free clothing line named NUSH, then visited an animal shelter, launched a campaign called PAWsitive to raise awareness about fireworks proving to be harmful for animals. Indeed, the actress deserved to win this title.
