Anushka Sharma has always raised her voice against cruelty on animals. Recently, a jackal was killed in Tamil Nadu’s Trichy by feeding it a bomb covered with meat. Anushka has expressed her anger against the brutal killing of the animal. She found the incident “appalling” and demanded stricter laws for animal cruelty. Taking to her Instagram stories, she shared a news piece and captioned it, “What sort of trend is this becoming? It is appalling. Cannot stress enough on stricter laws against animal cruelty.”
Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu Forest Department has arrested 12 gypsies for killing the jackal.
Recently, Anushka condemned the murder of a pregnant elephant in Kerala, which was fed a pineapple stuffed with explosives. Post that in Himachal Pradesh, a person tried to kill a pregnant cow by feeding it explosive mixed with food. Also, a leopard was killed in Assam.
Anushka Sharma had earlier too urged people to raise their voice against animal cruelty. She also started a campaign #JusticeForAnimals to demand stricter laws, punishment against animal cruelty and also the amendment of the Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. This came after a street dog, Lucky, was brutally beaten up inside a building in Mumbai.
On the work front, Anushka is currently busy producing shows for OTT platforms. Her last project was ‘Paatal Lok’.
