Anushka Sharma has proved her mettle in acting by appearing in various genres of movies in her career span. She not only proved herself as an actress but has also launched her own production venture Clean Slate Films in collaboration with her brother Karnesh Sharma. Her first movie as a producer was ‘NH10’ where she played the lead role. Post that she went on to produce movies like ‘Pari’ and ‘Phillauri’. The latest buzz is that the ‘Sui Dhaaga’ actress is going to produce a web series based on journalist-author Tarun Tejpal’s novel ‘The Story of My Assassins’.
Talking about the novel, it is a thriller with dark humour and suspense. It is a novel of corruption, passion, poverty, wealth and a lot more. Now coming back to Tejpal, he is a controversial man as in 2013 he was accused of raping one of his colleagues in Goa. He was then the editor-in-chief of the investigative magazine ‘Tehelka’. He is out on bail now and not given a clean chit yet. In that case, Anushka might face some problems.
Hardik Mehta, who is currently working on a script for one of Anushka’s shows, had said in his interview to Mumbai Mirror that the show is a “Delhi-based investigation drama” which is “tentatively-titled Assassin” and is along the lines of the US show True Detective.
Mumbai Mirror quoted a source saying that the shoot for the web show is currently going on in Delhi.
Anushka was last seen in ‘Zero’ opposite Shah Rukh Khan. It would be interesting to watch Anushka’s venture into the OTT platform. But first, we want to know why did she pick up this specific novel knowing that its author has been accused of rape.
