Apoorva Mukhija aka The Rebel reaches Khar Police station to record statement amid IGL controversy; disables comment on Instagram

Social media influencer ‘Rebel Kid’ Apoorva Mukhija who was a part of India’s Got Latent’s latest episode panel arrived at the Khar police station to record her statement in the ongoing controversy. FIRs have been filed against Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahbadia and other panellists including ‘Rebel Kid’ Apurva Mukhija in Maharashtra, Guwahati along with complaints in other states. NCW has issued a summons for the influencers to appear for questioning on February 17. Meanwhile, the episode has been taken down from YouTube and a thorough check is being done on other episodes in a bid to remove them from the public platform as well.

Content creator Apoorva Mukhija, better known as Rebel Kid arrived at Khar Police station earleir today. She is yet to issue an official statement regarding the escalating controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent. In light of the backlash, she has opted to disable the comments section on her Instagram account.

The 23-year-old influencer has faced severe criticism for her use of offensive language during an appearance on Samay Raina’s contentious show. It prompted videos of the incident to go viral on social media. As public outrage swells, many viewers have expressed their disapproval of Apoorva’s comments. Some even questioning her upbringing and others resorting to slut-shaming.

The vitriol has led her to mute the comment section on her Instagram profile. Although a video from the show remains accessible—albe it edited to exclude her controversial remarks. In the clip, she is seen roasting fellow panellist Ashish Chanchlani.

Ranveer’s apology

In the wake of the uproar, podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia offered an apology, acknowledging that his comments were both inappropriate and unfunny. He stated, “Comedy is not my forte; I am just here to say sorry. I will not provide context or justification for what happened—just an apology. I acknowledge my lapse in judgment, and it wasn’t cool on my part.”

He further emphasized that the podcast is viewed by individuals of all ages. Ranveer expressed his commitment to using his platform more responsibly going forward. He has requested that the producers remove the insensitive sections from the video and conclude with a heartfelt apology. The Youtuber asked for forgiveness. Meanwhile, Samay Raina has chosen to remain silent amid the ongoing controversy.
