The ongoing Tanushree Dutta-Nana Patekar controversy has sparked the #MeToo movement in Bollywood. Yes, slowly and slowly, more and more women are coming forward to share their ordeal and have decided to raise their voice no matter what.
Several celebs too have come forward to lend their support while there are some who are trying to dodge questions relating to the incident. Tanushree received support from actors like Priyanka Chopra, Parineeti Chopra, Farhan Akhtar and Sonam Kapoor to name a few.
However yesterday, Sonam Kapoor announced that she is taking a break from Twitter because there’s too much of negativity.
The actress had written, “I’m going off twitter for a while. It’s just too negative. Peace and love to all!”

Asrani who has films like ‘Aligarh and ‘CityLights’ to his credit, took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote, “A tsunami of expository testimonials nailing sexual predators is hitting our shores. And now that the accusations are coming close to home, many will quit social media to avoid standing against friends, colleagues & family members. Suddenly twitter will become a ‘negative place’.”

Interestingly, apart from Sonam, filmmaker Hansal Mehta too announced that he is going off Twitter, as he was trolled for speaking out against Vikas Bahl. However, his statement led to a war of words between him and Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut’s supporters.
In the coming days, let’s see how many more B-town celebs decide to quit the social media platform.
What do you think of Asrani’s views? Do let us know in the comments section below.
