Apurva Asrani and his partner Siddhant buy new house after pretending to be cousins for 13 years

National Award-winning editor and screenwriter, Apurva Asrani took to his Twitter handle and shared the news of purchasing a new house with his partner Siddhant. In the tweet, Asrani wrote that for 13 years they pretended to be cousins so that they could rent a house together.

Sharing the nameplate of their new home, Apurva wrote, “We were told ‘keep curtains drawn so neighbors don’t know ‘what’ you are’. We recently bought our own home. Now we voluntarily tell neighbors we are partners. It’s time LGBTQ families are normalised too.”

Siddhant who is also known as Sid tweeted, “Truly overwhelmed by and grateful for all this love coming our way. @Apurvasrani and I have only ever followed our hearts and taken things head-on without giving much thought to naysayers.”

Earlier, in an interview with Indian Express, Apurva spoke on his sexuality. He said, “It’s the same for any person growing up in any sexually repressed society—you grow up in closets. It’s a dark space where no one else is allowed and all you have is a torch for company. You search inside your confined space for answers but there isn’t another soul who can share your feelings. You try and find answers through magazines, porn, noises that infiltrate from the outside world. It is lonely.”
