After an exhilarating concert in Chennai on Wednesday, AR Rahman shared a touching message for Ed Sheeran, who headlined the event. The collaboration between the music legends captivated the audience and left a lasting impression. 

AR Rahman expresses gratitude to Ed Sheeran after Chennai concert

In his post, AR Rahman expressed his gratitude to Ed Sheeran, saying, “Thank you, @edsheeran! Hope to see you perform more in Chennai—our city needs more international concerts and collaborations like yours!” The performance was part of Sheeran’s Mathematics tour, and it featured a special moment where he and Rahman joined forces on stage. The duo interacted with fans and performed a remix of Ed’s hit “Shape of You” alongside Rahman’s “Urvasi.” 

Following the performance, Ed Sheeran took to Instagram to convey his appreciation for the opportunity to share the stage with Rahman. He wrote, “What an honour @arrahman,” reflecting on the significance of the moment. Sheeran kicked off his + – = / x India tour with an enchanting show in Pune on January 30. He wore a t-shirt emblazoned with ‘Pune,’ much to the delight of the cheering crowd. 

During the concert, Ed took a moment to express his excitement about performing in different cities. He noted that this was only his second visit to India. Having previously performed in Mumbai, he relished the chance to explore the country further. He remarked that every visit feels like a new adventure and expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from Indian fans.

Ahead of the concert, Ed Sheeran met AR Rahman and his son AR Ameen. Rahman shared the pictures of their meeting on Instagram. One photo showed them sitting on a couch, while another captured Rahman at his music console as Sheeran took a picture. “Photos by Ed Sheeran,” Rahman wrote in the caption.

Ed Sheeran’s performance in Chennai was part of his six-city India tour for The Mathematics series. It commenced in Pune on January 30. The British singer performed in Hyderabad at Ramoji Film City on February 2. He has yet to perform in cities like Bengaluru, Shillong, and Delhi.
