EXCLUSIVE: Arjun Kapoor talks about being fat-shamed; ‘I go through it occasionally even now’

It is no secret that Arjun Kapoor is one of the best actors that this industry has. Before making his debut in 2012 alongside Parineeti Chopra in Ishaqzaade, Arjun has had to go through a huge physical transformation. Arjun recently revealed in an exclusive chat with us that he had suffered through fat-shaming for the longest time now. Not just that, Arjun says he still has to face it occasionally.

Arjun told Bollywood Bubble that people use fat-shaming as way to one-up him in a situation, he said, “If fat-shaming counts then I have had to go through that for many years. Perhaps I go through it occasionally even now. It kind of becomes a perception that is built in the people to just use that to get one up for whatever it is worth so you get socially conditioned to start thinking that you look a certain way even though you don’t. Then you have to uncondition yourself.

Arjun added, “It is perceptions business at the top of the show so what happens is you start perceiving yourself the way people make you too. But I have not had to go through it because I come from a very privileged background. I’ve also had conditioning where my mother has had to start her own business.”
