Bollywood star Arjun Kapoor says actors need to be very secure in their career before taking a leap to Hollywood as it is difficult to start from the scratch.
Arjun’s co-stars, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone, are now venturing into Hollywood projects.
While the “Mary Kom” actress was part of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)-drama series “Quantico”, the “Piku” star will be seen opposite Vin Diesel in “XXX”.
The “2 States” actor says it is amazing what Priyanka has achieved and is confident Deepika will do great too.
“If you are given the opportunity to go out there and do a work, you should do it because you are representing your country and your skills.”
“It is amazing what Priyanka has achieved and I am sure Deepika will do equally well. She is such a talented personality and has only gotten better with time,” Arjun said in an interview.
The actor believes it takes tremendous confidence to uproot oneself from the current industry and start working in another.
“They have achieved a lot here to have that comfort and confidence to pick themselves up from here, go there, and start from scratch. It’s not everybody’s cup of tea. You have to be in a very secure place in your life and career to take that opportunity,” he said.
Several Indian actors like Anil Kapoor, Irrfan Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have worked in Hollywood films in the past. Arjun believes it is very “emotional” to work in the west while representing the country and hence should be done whole-heartedly.
“Priyanka has achieved so much here, she has picked her bag and gone there and has invested so much time in her work, so you cannot do it half-heartedly. It is very emotional to go there as an Indian actor in a main lead. You need to be very focused to do it. You can’t just do it because everybody is doing it. Even if I did a Hollywood film someday, I would want to put my best foot forward…”
He will be next seen in R Balki’s “Ki & Ka” opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan.
