‘Arjun Patiala’ producer squashes reports of Athiya being approached for Kriti’s role

This morning, reports in a leading tabloid stated that Athiya Shetty was the first choice for Dinesh Vijan’s forthcoming flick ‘Arjun Patiala’. It was reported that after Kriti Sanon was finalised as the female lead opposite Diljit Dosanjh for the movie, rumours were rife that Athiya was the first choice for the role and not Kriti. Reportedly, Athiya’s brand manager had approached Vijan asking him to cast her. But things didn’t fall through and Kriti came onboard.

However, it seems these reports are not true. Sources close to the movie revealed that Athiya was never considered for the role. Producer Dinesh Vijan cleared the air by sending us an official statement that states, “Kriti has been aware of Arjun Patiala since its inception and is the first and only actor who the film is offered to. The Film also stars Diljit Dosanjh in the lead opposite Kriti Sanon and the actress will be essaying the role of a journalist. The movie is a character-driven comic flick and will start rolling in February 2018. The film will be mostly shot in Punjab.
