Recently, the trailer of Arjun Rampal-starrer ‘Daddy’ was launched and Arjun Rampal earned praises for his character based on gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli. The movie which is a biopic on Gawli, captures his real life story on celluloid which hasn’t been explored before. And the makers considered Arjun to portray this strong role that banks heavily on realism. Well, after playing a cop in the hard-hitting flick ‘Kahaani 2’, Arjun will be seen in this movie which is rooted more in reality. So, recently when he was asked if he has taken a keen liking to such kind of characters, he gave in some elaborate details on his character and said, “I prefer realism unless it’s a fantasy film where one has to create one’s own reality. In case of ‘Kahaani 2’, Sujoy was keen that I played the role with a certain air of nonchalance What’s intriguing about playing Arun Gawli is the duality in his personality. He was not referred to as bhai, don ustaad. Instead, he was referred to as ‘Daddy’ — which reflects endearment. When I met the people who worked with him, they had a lot of love and respect for him. And when I met Arun Gawli, I realised what makes him an endearing man. He is gentle, polite and well-mannered. But, obviously there is something very dark in his personality too. I wanted the play the role as close to reality and then it to the audience to judge if he is a ‘Daddy’ or a gangster.”
Talking about the movie ‘Daddy’, it is written and directed by Ashim Ahluwali, Arjun Rampal has also co-written the film with Ahluwalia and stars South Indian actress Aishwarya Rajesh opposite Arjun Rampal. The movie is slated to release on September 8, 2017.
