Some time back, there were rumours of Akshay Kumar being upset with Arjun Kapoor for latter being a part of ‘Namastey Canada’, which is reportedly the second instalment of Akshay’s hit film ‘Namastey London’, though with a different plotline. In fact, rumours were rife that Akshay even refused the team from using the original title. However, that is far from the truth. Recently, Arjun Kapoor clarified these rumours by saying that all is well between him and Akshay and these rumours are baseless. Speaking with a news agency, Arjun said, “I shot a video for his film ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ and it negates the speculation. Vipul sir and Akshay were to do a film together, but due to time constraints and scheduling problems (it did not happen). Vipul sir offered (the project to) me and I got excited about it. Akshay sir and I get along well and I respect him for what he has achieved and the work he is doing now.”
Earlier, a source had informed a well-known daily that all is well between the two. The source had said, “When Arjun was approached, the first call he made was to Akshay to tell him that the film was offered to him. They spoke and obviously, Akshay had no issues with Arjun doing the film.” (Also Read: Arjun Kapoor: I wasn’t offered ‘Ram Lakhan’ remake)
Earlier, director Vipul Shah had said, “I want to set the record straight. ‘Namastey Canada’ is not a sequel to ‘Namastey London’. I thank Akshay for standing by me and being graceful about sharing the title with me. I’m also happy that Arjun and Parineeti agreed to join me on this journey. I hope this film becomes one of their best outings together.”
Well, good for Arjun. The actor’s last outing on the silver screen with uncle Anil Kapoor, ‘Mubarakan’, failed on the box office. Let’s see if he can change the equation with his upcoming movies.
