Athiya Shetty does not have the confidence to do women-centric films

Actor Athiya Shetty who made her debut in the industry along side Sooraj Pancholi in ‘Hero’ is now all set for her second project. Athiya will soon start shooting for her next movie, ‘Mubarakan’, in January and is super elated to work on a comedy film.

The actress was off the limelight after her debut and had to wait for a year to finally sign her next. Athiya says that she felt “insecure and nervous” during her waiting period after her debut.

Speaking about her sabbatical and why she waited so long, the actress said, “I am excited to be part of a comedy film. It will be a challenge. I wanted to sign a movie when I genuinely wanted to be part of it. I wasn’t getting roles that I felt were substantial. Also, weirdly, I got film offers that were women-oriented. I didn’t have the confidence to be able to take them up. I felt I was too new [in the industry] to be part of them. I felt I needed more experience as an actor before taking up such cinema. I didn’t want to jump into these projects. One has to be prepared for them.”

‘Mubarakan’ also stars Arjun Kapoor, Anil Kapoor and Ileana D’Cruz.
