Atrangi Re: Akshay Kumar reveals ‘OTT may simply be the medium of choice’ for the film

Actor Akshay Kumar’s plethora of movies like Sooryavanshi, Prithviraj, Bachchan Pandey, RakshaBandhan and Ram Setu have finally got their new release dates and are quite certain that the films will have a theatrical release. However, the fate of Atrangi Re starring Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush was unknown, until now. Well, filmmaker Aanand L Rai’s Atrangi Re is said to have an OTT release for right now, as said by the lead actor Akshay Kumar.

Speaking about the team considering a direct-to-OTT release, Kumar told HT City, “To be honest, I haven’t yet included Atrangi Re in the list because we are still mulling over whether it should be a theatrical film or an OTT release. And OTT may simply be the medium of choice for Atrangi Re, as it looks right now.” Talking more about this Aanand L Rai directorial venture, the 53-year-old adds, “Atrangi Re has a fantastic, never-heard-before subject and storyline. For me and Anand Rai, it is critical that the most suited platform is chosen for the film.”

Well, going by his statement, Atrangi Re will be releasing on the OTT platform; however, it is not revealed it will premiere on which streaming app.

Meanwhile, speaking about his upcoming films, Sooryavanshi, also starring Katrina Kaif, Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn will release this Diwali in the theatres. Prithviraj also featuring Manushi Chillar is set to release on January 21, 2022. His Bachchan Pandey with Kriti Sanon is slated to release on March 4, 2022, whereas RakshaBandhan has grabbed 11 August 2022. On the other hand, his Ram Setu opposite Nushratt Bharuccha and Jacqueline Fernandez will hit the big screens on Diwali 2022.
