Actress Vidya Balan has pleased the Government of Australia and has bagged an award. On August 19, the talented actress was felicitated for her social work by politician Martin Foley at the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia. She has been actively involved in sanitation campaign and a nutrition programme with an NGO in Kolkata called Child In Need Initiative.
A source said to a daily, “Vidya has been the ambassador of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne since 2012, and has been a regular at the event. She has done her bit to build ties between India and Australia, when it comes to cinema. She is currently in Melbourne, and was felicitated at the Parliament of Victoria for her impressive body of work and for her social endeavours. She has become the first Indian to receive this honour.”
On the professional front, Vidya has ‘Begum Jaan’, ‘Kahaani 2’ and a biopic based on the life of Kamala Das in her kitty.
