
The Goa Police have booked Farhan Azmi and two residents for allegedly causing a disturbance in the Candolim area due to rash driving on Monday evening. Ayesha Takia, the actress known for her role in Wanted, has responded to the incident involving her husband.

According to reports, Ayesha’s husband, Farhan Azmi, who was driving a luxury SUV, was confronted by a group of locals who accused him of reckless driving. Amid the confrontation, Farhan called the police for assistance, asserting that he had a licensed firearm for protection. However, instead of receiving help, he ended up being booked by the police.

Ayesha took to Instagram to share her perspective, stating that their family experienced a night of horror. She revealed that both Farhan and their son were subjected to severe bullying by residents. She described how they were “tormented” for hours, with insults directed at them for being from Maharashtra and owning a large vehicle. Ayesha indicated that Farhan, in an attempt to protect their son, had reached out to the police. It is only for them to file a complaint against him.

In her Instagram stories, she expressed, “Just saw this post and need to share. My husband and son were brutally bullied and scared for their lives as local Goan goons mobbed, threatened, and tormented them for hours… They even severely confronted the police who were called by my husband for protection.”
Ayesha also commented on the alleged animosity towards people from Maharashtra. She mentioned that the locals repeatedly cursed Farhan and their son. She emphasized that they have video evidence, including CCTV footage. They plan to present to the relevant authorities: “We have video proof and evidence, including CCTV footage, which will be shared with competent authorities in due course. We are cooperating with law enforcement and have faith in the justice system.”

North Goa Superintendent of Police Akshat Kaushal stated that when police arrived at the scene, locals obstructed them from taking Farhan to the station. He noted that both parties involved were eventually brought to the Calangute police station. They were given a chance to file complaints but declined to do so. As the altercation was causing a public disturbance, a state-initiated complaint was filed by Police Sub Inspector Paresh Sinari.
Farhan Azmi is a businessman and the son of politician Abu Azmi. He and Ayesha were married in 2009 and welcomed their son Mikhail in 2013.
