We are in 2017; and what are we yet discussing about? How women (should) dress up! More unfortunately, the derogatory, tasteless remarks often come from those in power.
On last New Year’s eve, Bangalore witnessed a shameful incident of mass molestation where at several venues women were groped and grabbed amidst crowd. While a number of actors including Esha Gupta, Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar came out condemning the incident, it was Samajwadi Party politician Abu Azmi (father-in-law of Ayesha Takia) who shamelessly pointed his fingers at the victims.
In his opinion, the women were dressed indecently, following western culture.
Esha Gupta had a powerful reply to it on Twitter and wrote, “The only woman to blame here,n she probably would have blamed herself too,is the woman who unknowingly gave birth to a jerk like u.” [sic]
Now! The proud son has come down to defend his father. Abu Azmi’s son and Ayesha Takia’s husband Farhan Azmi wrote, “We shame women who sell their bodies for basic necessities, and on the other hand, celebrate the ones who exhibit themselves to earn millions. @eshagupta2811, why? ”
While first part of his statement is about prostitutes, the latter portion certainly refers to actresses. How brilliantly people judge!
Just shameful. Now we know why Ayesha Takia left acting.
