Actor Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan clocked two years today. As the movie turned 2, Khurrana penned a note where he mentioned that awareness among our countrymen on the LGBTQIA+ community in mainstream cinema has been created by films like Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui and now Badhaai Do. Talking to his Instagram handle, he shared a video clip where he was heard reciting a poem as he pays a tribute to the LGBTQIA+ community. He said that he has considered himself as a medium to tell stories via his movies to bring positive changes in the society.
Sharing the video, he wrote, “I have always considered myself merely a vehicle or a medium to tell stories that hopefully will affect positive social change. I was thrilled with how audiences reacted to the strong message about gender inclusivity that #ShubhMangalZyadaSaavdhan (SMZS) delivered, making it a unique success story.”
He added, “I think awareness among our countrymen has been created by films like Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui and now Badhaai Do. I believe we are moving in the right direction. SMZS and CKA will be remembered as baby steps towards a bigger impact.”

Directed by Hitesh Kewalya, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan revolved around same-sex marriage. Ayushmann Khurrana and Jitendra Kumar played the role of the lead couple.
