Ayushmann Khurrana is currently gearing up for his most talked-about film ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’. But, he recently found himself stuck in a controversy as he spoke about same-sex marriages being legal in India. He was trolled for being uninformed.
Ayushmann had shocked everyone while speaking to the press on Tuesday. “We are really proud that we are supporting the community. Our country is very progressive that it legalised same-sex marriages,” said Ayushmann. But, the Supreme Court had only decriminalised homosexuality in its monumental 2018 verdict. Same-sex marriages were not legalised in the same.
Ayushmann took to his Twitter to write an apology for his wrong statement. He wrote, “A genuine slip here though I really wish same-sex marriages get legal in India ?? (sic).”

Meanwhile, talking about the movie, Ayushmann plays the character of a gay man in ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’. The character of his partner is being played by Jitendra Kumar. Releasing on February 21, the film also stars Pankhuri Awasthy, Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao, Maanvi Gagroo and Bhumi Pednekar. The film is bankrolled by Aanand L Rai’s Colour Yellow Productions and Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series.
