Deepika Padukone has not had a single release since ‘Padmaavat‘. Clearly, the numero uno actress wanted to take a year off for the big wedding that just culminated last month with actor Ranveer Singh.
But it was just a few days before her marriage that DP announced her immediate next. She will be seen playing acid survivor Laxmi Agarwal in her biopic, which will be directed by Meghna Gulzar.
The film goes on floors in the last week of January, and as of now, and the male lead needs still to be cast. But according to grapevine, two actors have already been nudged about the project. The film is a completely woman-centric one, driven by DP’s character. So casting an A-list actor is out of the question. But the role demands a prominent male face and according to out exclusive sources, the producers are keen on getting either Ayushmann Khurrana or Rajkummar Rao on board.
It’s a toss-up between the two ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ actors and although both of them have several projects lined up, they have liked the concept and have also told the makers that their managers are trying to see if the dates can be managed. They will need around 20-25 days to shoot whereas Deepika will shoot for a good 45 days at a stretch.
