Babul Supriyo tweet

As the tension on the border is brewing between India and Pakistan, yet again, this has led BJP MLA and singer Babul Supriyo to re-spark the debate of banning Pakistani artistes. One would remember the protests that shook the foundations of the industry, when back in 2016 filmmakers and majorly Karan Johar faced the flak of casting Fawad Khan in ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’. The aftermath of the Uri Attacks led to this and the director had to chop off many scenes and even issue a public apology on the same.

However, currently the atmosphere at the border is at all time worse, and in the meantime, Bollywood has released songs featuring Pak artiste and beloved singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. The singer has crooned songs in Sonakshi Sinha-starrer ‘Welcome To New York’ and Ajay Devgn-starrer ‘Raid’ which have been met with love. Thanking his audience for the same, he tweeted a message.

However, Babul Supriyo who has recently put forth his opinion and called for a ban on Pak artistes, has posted a reply to the same. It is not at all all disrespectful, but expressed in a subtle way. Read it here.

Well, Babul had expressed his anger when rumour mills had reported that the song ‘Ishtehaar’ from ‘Welcome To New York’ was originally supposed to be crooned by Arijit Singh, but owing to the trouble between him and Salman Khan, it went to Rahat Sahab. This, combined with the fact that Salman had used Atif Aslam for the song ‘Dil Diyan Gallan’ in his last movie ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, irked Babul.
